TEACHERS

Our Nov-Dev 2025 Term will be taught by Shell Davies & Tim Bayman, together with new teacher Joe Smith

Shell caught the dancing bug back in 2005. She was one of the founding members of Edinbop in Edinburgh and she has been a familiar face on the dance floor and DJ booth since way back when. With a focus on partner connection and musicality, Shell's classes have been helping people fall in love with lindy hop and blues since 2006.

Tim has been swing dancing since 1997. He was on a university exchange program in America when he had the good fortune to be dragged along to a dance by students who needed leads. He caught the bug and 25 years later he's still dancing. Tim's main focus is on social dancing, enjoyment and good connection. Mainly to dance smarter and not harder.

Joe started swing dancing around 2018 when living in London, his early lessons being below-deck on a boat on the Thames, “Great for practicing balance, not so great for a tall person’s head clearance!” With a background in drumming and animation, he loves analysing movement and timing, and what makes moves flow smoothly and musically from one to the other.

Joe Smith is the first inductee to our route to teaching. Our Level 2 dancers may have seen him teaching Mini-lessons during Thursdays over the past few terms, and now he's stepping up to teach full classes together with our more established teachers. Just as with Emily, Peter, Alex and Lottie last term, Shell and Tim will be mixing and matching with Joe throughout the term to ease him into teaching full size classes.
