About the Edinburgh Swing Dance Society

Edinburgh Swing Dance Society (ESDS) is a community organisation that runs Swing dance classes and events in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This Privacy Policy describes how Edinburgh Swing Dance Society ('ESDS', 'we', and/or 'our') collects, uses, discloses and transfers the business and personal information that you provide when using services provided by ESDS.

When you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your name, your email address and the region of the world in which you reside. We collect your email address as a side-effect of you communicating with us over email. In addition, we will occasionally take photographs and record videos of our dancers for marketing purposes. When you attend ESDS events, we will collect your name and email address as a side effect of our ticketing system Dancecloud.​

 

When you access ESDS web services, we may automatically collect certain information about your device and the usage of our services (including this website).   • Satisfying contract requirements for the hiring of certain Venues.

  • Ensuring the society has adequate information to contest legal challenges effectively.

  • Prevent ticketing fraud.

  • Correctly enforce conditional discounts (for example, membership discounts).

  • Handle lost tickets, refunds and transfers.

  • Announce last-minute event changes effectively.​

  • Notify you of society information, membership details, news, classes and events.

  • Seek your feedback on classes and events that we have organised.

  • Review your past purchasing behaviour in order to more effectively satisfy your needs.

  • To carry out other legitimate purposes, as well as other lawful purposes about which we will notify you ahead of time.

  • To access, correct, update or request deletion of Personal Information. ESDS takes reasonable steps to ensure that the data we collect is reliable for its intended use, accurate, complete and up to date. If you wish to access, correct, update or request deletion of your information, you can do so by emailing info@esds.org.uk.

  • In addition, individuals who are residents of the EEA can object to processing of their Personal Information, ask to restrict processing of their Personal Information or request portability of their Personal Information. You can exercise these rights by contacting us via info@esds.org.uk.

  • Similarly, if Personal Information is collected or processed on the basis of consent, the data subject can withdraw their consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your Personal Information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

Your information is not shared with any third parties. ESDS will retain this information for two years after the date of collection.

 

If you decide that you no longer want to hear from us, or if your information changes, tell us via email and we will ensure our records are updated.
